Dr. Michael Fisher is a retired USDA, Food Safety and Inspection Service veterinarian and US Army Colonel.  

A product of rural Iowa, the son of swine producers, Fisher has graduate degrees from Iowa State University in veterinary pathology and meat science and the U.S. Army War College.

Having retired from full time employment, he seeks to educate small and very small meat and poultry processors on the difference between what the law authorizes, and what FSIS lacks the legal authority to compel.

The husband of one, father of three, and grandfather of six; he enjoys riding a bicycle, fishing, hiking, and woodworking.
